Midwifery Care

At Albert Road General Practice, our midwives are here to support you through pregnancy, birth preparation, and the early postpartum period, in a way that feels personal, flexible, and grounded.

Whether you’re navigating pregnancy for the first time or growing your family again, our goal is simple:
to provide care that feels steady, informed, and genuinely supportive.

Why Choose Private Midwifery Care?

Our experienced midwives work collaboratively with our GPs and allied health team to ensure you receive well-rounded, holistic care. Unlike high-volume clinical settings, our appointments are never rushed. We provide the space you need to discuss your physical wellbeing and emotional health.

Our Midwives are here to:

  • Provide Reassurance: Expert check-ins between major hospital milestones.

  • Answer Your Questions: No concern is too big or too small.

  • Build Confidence: Practical tools to help you feel prepared for labor and beyond.

  • Offer Continuity: See the same friendly face throughout your pregnancy.

Comprehensive Pregnancy & Postpartum Services

Our midwifery appointments complement your existing care, whether you are booked into a public hospital or seeing a private obstetrician.

1. Early Pregnancy & Reassurance Care

Starting your journey? We offer early pregnancy check-ins and reassurance scans to provide clarity and peace of mind during those first few weeks. We also provide Bulk Billed Pregnancy Confirmation.

2. Birth Preparation & Education

Go beyond the standard hospital classes with 1:1 birth education. We help you with:

  • Developing personalised birth preferences.

  • Navigating the Australian hospital system.

  • Practical labor techniques and pain management options.

3. Postpartum Support & Lactation Consulting

Care doesn’t end at delivery. We provide postpartum check-ups to support your physical recovery and emotional adjustment. Our Lactation Consultants are also available to assist with feeding plans and breastfeeding support.

4. Specialised Clinical Support

  • Iron Infusions for Pregnancy: Managing anemia safely on-site.

  • IV Fluids for Hyperemesis: Support for severe pregnancy nausea.

  • Birth Debriefing: A safe space to process your previous birth experiences.

Flexible Care, Your Way

There’s no set way to access midwifery care here.

You might:

  • Book a single appointment for reassurance
  • See a midwife occasionally alongside your GP or obstetrician
  • Or choose regular appointments throughout your pregnancy

Whether it’s one visit or ongoing support, you’re always welcome.

You do not need to be “booked in” to a specific program to access care.

Working Alongside Your Existing Care

Our midwives work collaboratively with:

  • Public hospital teams
  • Private obstetricians
  • Our in-house GPs and allied health practitioners

This means your care can feel more connected, without replacing the system you’re already in.

When to Book

You can book a midwife appointment at any stage:

  • Early pregnancy
  • Between scheduled hospital or GP visits
  • When something doesn’t feel quite right
  • Or simply when you’d like more time, support, or reassurance
