Having a newborn baby is an exciting and busy time.
Your baby grows and changes so much in their first few weeks. It’s important for your baby to have regular checks and these can be completed with your doctor at Albert Road General Practice.
Your baby can see the doctor at any time, even if you just need reassurance about something.
All our doctors see babies regularly for newborn check-ups, immunisations and to provide medical support for parents and carers.
Your 6-week-old baby check-up:
When your baby visits the doctor for a 6 week old check, this is a head-to-toe check of your baby, similar to what would have been done in hospital. This is a chance for you and your doctor to discuss:
- early detection of any medical problems for you or your baby
- doing routine six-week immunisations for your baby
- discussing any specific questions or concerns
At Albert Road General Practice, we can do six week old baby checks either as a standalone appointment, or as a back-to-back appointment with your six-week postnatal check. Most of our patients book the two checks as back-to-back appointments, to get a complete check of mum and bub.
