Birth Planning
Feel informed, supported, and confident as you prepare for birth
Birth planning is not about creating a perfect script. It is about understanding your options, exploring your preferences, and feeling genuinely supported as you prepare for labour, birth, and the early postpartum period.
At Albert Road General Practice, we offer thoughtful, personalised, 1:1 birth planning appointments that help you feel ready rather than rushed. Whether you have a clear vision or no idea where to begin, we guide you through the decisions that matter most.
What Is Birth Planning?
Birth planning is a conversation, a chance to explore your choices, understand the birth process, and prepare for both expected and unexpected scenarios.
Birth planning sessions help you:
- Understand what happens during labour and birth
- Explore medical and non‑medical options
- Talk through your preferences, values, and concerns
- Prepare for straightforward and complex situations
- Build confidence in your ability to make informed decisions
Some women arrive with a detailed vision. Others feel overwhelmed or unsure where to start. Both are completely normal.

A Thoughtful, Slow‑Medicine Approach
We practice slow medicine, which means:
