As a General Practice in Australia, we have the option to bulk bill or privately bill.

When fees for a doctor’s consultation or procedure are bulk billed, they are paid by Medicare at the rate that Medicare decides. Private billing is where the practice decides on the fees for a consultation. These fees are more than Medicare is willing to pay which means that, as the patient, you will pay an out of pocket fee (the private fee minus the Medicare rebate).

The Medicare rebate (amount of money that Medicare will pay) for a standard appointment is $39.75.

As Australian’s, we can be grateful for a medical system which provides basic healthcare coverage. However, there are times when this basic coverage isn’t enough.

We believe that it’s important for your doctor to spend time getting to know you and working out the best way to help, without rushing your consultation. We don’t believe that it’s possible to provide the high level or care you deserve at the rate and duration the Medicare is willing to pay. This means that when you have an appointment, there will be an out of pocket fee which you will need to pay.

What you pay for when you come for your appointment

Our practitioners are expected to give you their all.

That means that no matter what occurred during their last consultation, they need to put it behind them and give you their full attention. They are responsible for the little things like ensuring that they have had enough sleep the night before so that they can make perfect decisions on their feet in a split second. More often than not, they will prioritise spending more time face-to-

face with you even if that means that they have to take time away from their family to do paperwork after dinner that night.

They are also responsible for the big things. They are responsible for one of the most important aspects of your life, health. Everyone expects that their doctor doesn’t miss the important things.

They are here for you when you need them, they will always listen, provide support and solutions.

Doctors study for 10-14 years to be able to do what they do. Once they start practicing, they are expected to stay up to date with medical research, information, and health care industry policies whenever they have spare time.

Aside from seeing your doctor, there are a number of other expenses that your consultation fee accounts for. These include:

  • The admin staff who pick up the phone, book your appointments, organise your paperwork and anything else that you need,
  • The nursing staff who support the doctor in providing your care, ensure that you get your results and come in for an appointment when you need one all while making sure that the clinic has all the medical supplies that you might need during your appointment,
  • Everything that is included in ensuring that the practice can physically exist (the IT systems, utilities, rent/mortgage, cleaners, chairs for the waiting room etc.).

We strive for perfection. From your first phone call, through your consultation and your follow up after your consultation. It’s all about ensuring that your experience is positive, passionate and progressive.

We will always go above and beyond for you.
